President Trump’s Twitter Etiquette – I Don’t Care

The mainstream media has been in an uproar today because of President Trump’s tweet about an MSNBC show host.

I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came…..to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!

Righteous indignation abounds.  All day long the mainstream media has condemned the “unpresidential” tone of the tweets.  Several Republicans in congress were quick to join in the condemnation. Continue reading

Finish Your Chores Before You Play

The mini drama plays out every day in thousands of households around the world.  “Mom, can I go to the mall, play, see my friends, watch a movie?  You fill in the blank.  Mother responds, “Sure, but first clean up your room.”

Five or ten minutes later, “Mom, can I go now, my friends are waiting?”  This time the Mother’s response is in the form of a question. “Have you cleaned up your room?”  The answer comes back, “I’m almost done.”  The mother patiently replies, “Finish cleaning up your room.” Continue reading

Slapping Martin Luther King’s Dream in the Face

Joy Reid of MSNBC sent the tweet below about the shooting last Wednesday at the practice for the Congressional Republican baseball team.  She decided to play the race card and the gender card along with private and personal details about one of the agents.

In the famous speech of Martin Luther King, he preached that he had a dream about a future in America. The memorable line from that speech was plain and clear. Continue reading

Father’s Day

Don Cole with father Robert Cole

Robert Cole and son Don Cole

One word that comes to my mind when I think of my father is the word, “proud.” He is proud of his children. It is more than being proud of what we do or what we may have accomplished. It is pride in his children simply because we are his children.

His expression of pride is a true encouragement. When I was a child and tried and failed, he was there to lift me up and help me start again. Continue reading

Individual Responsibility

Shortly after 7:00 am this morning, a man went to a practice field and began firing at the individuals in the area. The field was in use by Republican members of congress practicing for an annual charity game between Democrats and Republicans.

The shooter died of wounds and was identified as James T. Hodgkinson. Media is abounding with information and debate about the event and Mr. Hodgkinson.

Governor Terry McCauliffe was quick to call for more gun control.  Conservatives pointed to the atmosphere of political discourse and hatred displayed toward President Trump. Continue reading

Comey’s Grammar School Note Passing

Former FBI Director, James Comey testified that he wrote a memo, then gave it to a friend at Columbia Law School to read portions of it to a reporter. In his notes, Comey indicated that President Trump asked for a private meeting and said to him, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”  He also said that President Trump asked for his loyalty.

After Comey’s firing the Democrats and talking heads in the mainstream media exploded with cries of “obstruction of justice.” The word of Comey’s memo threw gasoline on the fire.

Step back from the hysteria for a moment and return to a basic civic lesson. The FBI and the Justice Department are part of the executive branch of our government. Continue reading

I Endorse the Pachyderms – RLG Vote Today!

I wholeheartedly endorse the Pachyderm ticket for the 2017 Republican Leadership for Georgia Class.  If you are an alumnus of RLG you should have received an e-mail for voting. Voting ends at 12 noon tomorrow (Friday, June 9, 2017).  I voted as soon as I got the e-mail.

Jordan Fuchs is Vice-President of Landmark Communications. She will use her expertise in communications and public relations to keep supporters and alumni connected and involved in the Republican agenda.  Jordan worked tirelessly as campaign consultant and manager for the recent successful special election victory of State Senator Kay Kirkpatrick.

Kay’s campaign was a bellwether for the 6th Congressional District. Democrats blitzed the district in a tight runoff election.  They desperately wanted a win to put wind in the sails of John Ossoff in the 6th.  Jordan not only held the line, but she advanced to win the victory. Continue reading

A Fraud Perpetuated on the American People

“A fraud perpetuated on the American people.”  What an irony that Senator David Perdue pointedly addressed his fellow Senators with these words on June 6, the same day that we remembered D-Day 73 years ago.

On June 6, 1944, the United States launched the most massive military undertaking in world history.  It required an unshakable resolve, monumental planning, impeccable execution, and passionate prayer.  It was a time of crisis for our nation and, with God’s care, we rose to meet the crisis.

73 years later our nation is in the midst of another crisis that is even more ominous. It is a crisis that is more sinister and threatening than even the threat of terrorism. Like a cancer on our nation, it is steadily and tenaciously destroying us from the inside.

For 14 minutes, Senator Perdue presented common sense truth to the Senate.  This was not an address filled with partisan flamboyancy. It was not an address in the late night hours to an empty room simply to have footage for campaign commercial.

It was a call for the Senate to simply do its job.  It was a call to seriously address a national debt that has grown to nearly 20 trillion dollars.  It was a call to have an honest budget process. You can watch his message in less time than it takes for a coffee break.

If you feel that you do not have time to watch it, then I’ll give you the reader’s digest version below.  But you need to watch this speech.

This is not a politician pontificating.  It is a plain spoken American exhorting his colleagues to stop serving themselves and serve the American people. Continue reading

Georgia GOP Convention Review

The Georgia Republican Party held its regular convention last weekend in Augusta. The big agenda item was the election of the next State Party Chairman. John Padgett had served two terms and party rules have a two term limit to allow fresh leaders to emerge.

Four excellent candidates offered to lead the party: Alex Johnson, Michael McNeely, John Watson, and Mike Welsh. Each offered their vision and their strengths. After three rounds of voting, the delegates elected John Watson as the next state party chair.

The Georgia GOP Conventions at times have been tumultuous events. This one was not tumultuous or rancorous. There were teams promoting their respective candidates for many offices zealously without being confrontational. Continue reading
