On Saturday, April 22, 2017, Republicans in Fourteen Congressional Districts across Georgia held District Conventions. The Second Congressional District unanimously adopted a resolution supporting Karen Handel in the special election runoff on June 20th. Many at the convention also backed the resolution with checks and on-line donations to Karen’s campaign.
A Resolution by the 2nd District Georgia Republican Party Expressing United Support for Karen Handel
WHEREAS, the 6th Congressional District of Georgia is a conservative district that has been represented by Republicans including former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, current US Senator Johnny Isakson, and current Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tom Price; and
WHEREAS, 18 candidates, including 11 Republicans, 5 Democrats, and 2 Independents, qualified to run in the special election to fill the unexpired term of Congressman Tom Price; and
WHEREAS, one Democrat candidate who does not reside in the 6th Congressional District received over 8 million dollars in donations from all parts of the world with a minuscule fraction of those donations coming from the people of the 6th Congressional District; and
WHEREAS, the strategy of the outside donations for one Democrat candidate was to attempt to win the special election without a runoff thereby having a puppet congressman representing the interests of the Democrat National Committee, not the people of the 6th District of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the 8 million dollar Democrat strategy was reminiscent of the recent North Korean intercontinental ballistic launch that spectacularly failed at takeoff; and
WHEREAS, there will be a runoff election on June 20, 2017 between Republican Karen Handel and a flattened, fizzled Democrat; and
WHEREAS, Karen and Steve Handel have lived in the 6th Congressional District for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Karen Handel has a proven record of standing up for conservative principles in the tradition of Newt Gingrich, Johnny Isakson, and Tom Price while serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Sonny Perdue, Chair of the Fulton County Commission, and Georgia Secretary of State ; and
WHEREAS, Democrats will continue to pour millions into the runoff campaign in an effort to smear and defame Karen Handel;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party of the 2nd Congressional District expresses its complete, united, support for Karen Handel in the June 20, 2017 run-off election; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we as individual Republicans of the 2nd Congressional District will invest our time, our talents, and our financial support to the fullest degree possible to Karen’s campaign at www.KarenHandel.com to represent the 6th Congressional District in Congress; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, recognizing the vicious character assassination and possible violent protests that Democrats will certainly launch against Karen Handel and her campaign team, we will pray for Karen, her husband, Steve, and all of those working on her campaign that they may stand resolute as our founding fathers with a firm reliance on Divine Providence; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to Karen Handel, the Georgia Republican Party, and it be disseminated as widely as possible through all media channels including, but not limited to, newspapers, radio, television, and shared social media.
Adopted Unanimously in regular session of the Georgia 2nd Congressional District Republican Convention meeting at the historic Rylander Theater in Americus, Georgia on the 22nd Day of April, 2017.
