I Endorse the Pachyderms – RLG Vote Today!

I wholeheartedly endorse the Pachyderm ticket for the 2017 Republican Leadership for Georgia Class. If you are an alumnus of RLG you should have received an e-mail for voting. Voting ends at 12 noon tomorrow (Friday, June 9, 2017). I voted as soon as I got the e-mail.

Jordan Fuchs is Vice-President of Landmark Communications. She will use her expertise in communications and public relations to keep supporters and alumni connected and involved in the Republican agenda. Jordan worked tirelessly as campaign consultant and manager for the recent successful special election victory of State Senator Kay Kirkpatrick.

Kay’s campaign was a bellwether for the 6th Congressional District. Democrats blitzed the district in a tight runoff election. They desperately wanted a win to put wind in the sails of John Ossoff in the 6th. Jordan not only held the line, but she advanced to win the victory. Continue reading →

Georgia GOP Convention Review

The Georgia Republican Party held its regular convention last weekend in Augusta. The big agenda item was the election of the next State Party Chairman. John Padgett had served two terms and party rules have a two term limit to allow fresh leaders to emerge.

Four excellent candidates offered to lead the party: Alex Johnson, Michael McNeely, John Watson, and Mike Welsh. Each offered their vision and their strengths. After three rounds of voting, the delegates elected John Watson as the next state party chair.

The Georgia GOP Conventions at times have been tumultuous events. This one was not tumultuous or rancorous. There were teams promoting their respective candidates for many offices zealously without being confrontational. Continue reading →

Sixth District – Why Vote Early

Early voting opened today in the 6th Congressional District runoff. I live in the 2nd District and will not be able to cast a vote in this election. For those who do live in the 6th, I encourage you to vote early.

There are many, myself included, who believe that voting should be on election day except for absentees. Election day only voting would reduce the opportunity for fraudulent voting.

As much as I believe that, the fact is that early voting is a reality. Disagreeing with early voting and waiting until election day will not change early voting.

Republicans have always done well on election day voting. Democrats historically have a slight advantage in early voting. Republicans need dominate both. Here is why I encourage you to vote early. Continue reading →

I was once asked what got me involved in Republican politics. My answer is easy: Bill Clinton and the Democrat party.

When the Monica Lewinski affair came out Bill Clinton angrily shook his finger at the television camera and the American people denying any impropriety. While I did not believe a word he was saying, I counted it as just politics.

Then he testified to the Grand Jury and again blatantly lied. Not only did he lie, but it was evident that the Clintons made threats and went after those who told the truth. At that point it was no longer just politics. Continue reading →

We Won! Stop Playing Defense!

There has been a visceral reaction from conservatives at the budget bill that will fund the government through the end of the year. President Trump and Republicans campaigned on several key issues including repeal and replacement of Obamacare, defunding Planned Parenthood, Sanctuary Cities, and building the wall.

The appointment and subsequent confirmation of Judge Gorsuch was a key victory. Executive orders that overturned Obama’s Executive orders were victories.

On the Legislative front, the movement has been slow at best. The voters who flooded the polling places to vote for Trump and Republicans are losing patience. Continue reading →

2nd District Unanimously Supports Handel in 6th

On Saturday, April 22, 2017, Republicans in Fourteen Congressional Districts across Georgia held District Conventions. The Second Congressional District unanimously adopted a resolution supporting Karen Handel in the special election runoff on June 20th. Many at the convention also backed the resolution with checks and on-line donations to Karen’s campaign.

I May Be Proved Wrong About the Nuclear Option

Over two months ago, I predicted that there would be no nuclear option in the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch. (See February 1, 2017 – “There Will Not Be a Nuclear Option”) It now appears that I may be proven wrong. I still find it hard to believe that the Democrats will take this Kamikaze dive.

Lessons Learned from Obamacare Replacement

The talking heads and pundits have pointed their fingers and cast the blame on the “failure” of the Obamacare legislation vote that Speaker Ryan cancelled last Friday. I do not see productive value for the American people and the Republican Party in the finger pointing and blame.
