Congressman Sees His Constituents as Helpless

In a recent editorial, Congressman Sanford Bishop decried the 2018 federal budget submitted by President Trump. He wrote that the proposal would be a “recipe for disaster” for the people of the Second Congressional District of Georgia.

Bishop said that his metric for analyzing legislation is whether or not it improves the lives of the people of Southwest Georgia. His editorial reveals his view of the citizens of Southwest Georgia as being helpless and totally dependent on the federal government. Continue reading

Tell Us Where You Stand Congressman Bishop

Congressman Sanford Bishop has stated that he is pro-life. Evidence proves otherwise. On January 24, 2017, the US House of Representatives voted to permanently prohibit federal funds for abortion. Sanford Bishop voted against the bill two times.

In 2015, Sanford Bishop voted twice to support Planned Parenthood. The issue will come up again. Continue reading

Pig Painting to Come Down

Last Friday morning I wrote a letter to Congressman Sanford Bishop asking him to demand that the “pig” painting be taken down. According to News reports from last Friday evening, the painting in the halls of Congress depicting police officers as pigs will come down on Tuesday, January 17.  I still want him to respond to my request. The letter I sent is displayed below.

The Pig Painting is a Disgrace

Painting of Police Officers as PigsA painting hangs in the halls of Congress, the People’s House, that depicts police officers as pigs pointing their pistols at African-Americans. The painting is part of a student art competition and put on display by Missouri Democrat Lacy Clay.

After receiving complaints from law enforcement agencies, California Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter took action. He removed the painting from the wall and returned it to Clay’s office. Continue reading

Don’s Letter to Editor Columbus Ledger-Enquirer – You Deserve Better

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer published the following letter to the editor on February 10, 2016.

Dear Editor,

The Presidential race is kicking into high gear. Americans are itching for a change, not just in the White House.

In the distant horizon a wave is building that will eventually be a tsunami of revolt at the ballot box in November. That wave can be summed up in three words, “You Deserve Better.”

Here in the Second District, Sanford Bishop has been in Congress for two decades. His title is Representative. One must ask, “Whom does he really represent?”

Take for example, Obamacare. Continue reading

Sanford Bishop – Deserting the Fight for 2nd Amendment

In the first week of January, President Obama again by-passed our elected legislators when he unilaterally issued orders threatening our 2nd amendment rights to own and bear firearms.  Our two US Senators responded immediately with statements vowing to fight the order.  Congressmen in all but one district across South Georgia also responded with strong statements against the unconstitutional order.

A chirping cricket is louder than the protests from our congressman in the 2nd District. It has been a month and there is silence from the 2nd Congressional District. Continue reading

HR 36 the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

Next Thursday will be the 42nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision of the US Supreme Court. On that day, the US House of Representatives will consider HR 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. (Read it here – it is short.)

I read the bill and it is a simple and straight forward acknowledgement of what we now know about life in a mother’s womb. The bill does not go as far as I would like. Public policy is affected one step at a time and even baby steps are better than no steps.
