The Rule of Law and Where We Need to Focus

Why not “do the right thing and concede?” Is it not for the “good of the nation?” After all, Nixon conceded to Kennedy when there were serious questions about Cook County, Illinois.

This is the question raised by so-called moderates. Some Republicans joined the chorus, but fortunately, most Republicans have not.

Many in the mainstream media were calling for President Trump to concede on the first day. That call is hypocritical when Hillary Clinton said last August that Joe Biden should not concede the election under any circumstances.

President Trump’s campaign says that there is more than ample evidence to prove massive voter fraud. They have been amassing evidence to present to the various courts.

The only thing that will count is the evidence presented in the courtroom and the final determination by the appropriate court(s). The key word is “final” because no matter what any court rules, the law provides an avenue for appeal.

What is the evidence that the Trump team is gathering for presentation? I do not know and you do not know either.

Do not trust the information from any news source, whether mainstream media, social media, or any of the newest outlets for news information. Legal matters are not adjudicated in social media.

No matter how convinced you, or anyone else is, about the truth of the actual count in this election, the final determination will be based on the rule of law. That will most likely come down to a decision in the courts.

Joe Biden can announce whatever he wants to announce. News outlets can “project” whatever they want to project.

Until a candidate concedes and stops the appeals, or the courts rule on the appeals, and the electors in each state cast votes, the election will not be over. Remember that in 2000, the final determination did not come until nearly 40 days after the election. We need to be patient and let that process work.

In the meantime, we have work to do in preparing for a runoff election. That is where we need to focus all of our attention.

Make a list of names of friends that you will commit to calling and getting them to be sure to vote in the January runoff election. Find out who is leading the runoff effort in your county and sign up to help.

Take the pent up energy you have about the Presidential election and focus it on the runoff. When you get ready to post something on social media, ask yourself if what you are about to post is going to help get votes for David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

If what you do is not helping to get votes, then let me be blunt. You are wasting valuable time that you cannot afford to waste.

Facebook and Twitter posts, and even their new competitors, Parler and MeWe, do not count. Rallies do not count either if going to a rally does not result in encouraging and getting votes for our two sitting Senators.

I stand with President Trump and support him fully. There are many reported question marks and red flags in multiple states. Right now, anything you or I say about the election issues would be just speculation.

President Trump has a top notch legal team who will make a strong case. Let’s wait and allow the process of the rule of law to work its way through the court system.

Meanwhile, we have work that we can do right now that will make a difference. Do not be discouraged by news media reports.

Keep your focus on what we must do on January 5, 2021. You focus on getting your vote in and on specific individuals that you will get to the polls.

There is only one currency in this election. Who our Senators are will be determined by one thing and one thing only – votes.
