On the first day of qualifying, I went to the Georgia State Capitol and stood in the long line of Republicans qualifying for office. I paid the fee which was covered by generous donations that have already come in.

I am asking everyone, especially if you live in the 2nd District, to invest in this campaign. Many are giving who have never given to a political campaign. Give as little as $2.20 (Take back District 2 in 20) to invest in this challenge.

Last Saturday, I spoke at the Grady County Republican Party fundraiser. I think that there were between 100 and 150 in attendance.

Grady County GOP Chair Jeffrey Jolly, Vice Chair Julie Scarborough, Secretary Barbara Darus, and Treasurer Brenda Corley along with many volunteers including 2nd District Chair Brandon Phillips did an outstanding job. I talked with people as they came out of the event and many told me that it has been years since they saw so many Republicans gathered together in one place.

In my address to the group, I answered three questions, (1) Who I am, (2) Why I am running, and (3) Where I stand on the issues. I then closed with how I can win and why I am the best candidate for the job. Our website, cole4congress.com, has a good bio to answer who I am. As a faithful reader, you know as well.

The answer to why I am running is pretty simple. Southwest Georgia has no representation in the US House of Representatives.

The individual who occupies our seat in Congress is merely another vote for Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, AOC, and all the other Democrats, none of whom share our values. Hundreds of calls came from Southwest Georgia calling on the individual who is supposed to represent us to vote NO on the fabricated impeachment of President Trump in the US House of Representatives. Our voices fell on deaf ears as our vote went with Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff.

As recently as last Friday, February 28, 2020 Democrats in the House used a procedural vote to block a Republican effort to bring the The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (BAASPA) up for a vote. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act explicitly provided that a baby born alive during an abortion must be afforded “the same degree” of care that would apply “to any other child born alive at the same gestational age,” including transportation to a hospital.

Who could possibly disagree with providing basic care to a baby who is born alive? Apparently the current occupant of Georgia’s 2nd District seat and the Democrat leaders in Congress. They refuse to protect the basic civil rights of a new born.

I really don’t want to hear hypocritical campaign rhetoric about supporting the underprivileged and those who are down and out. I can’t think of anyone more down and out than a helpless baby fighting for life against a ruthless attempt to snuff out his or her life.

House Roll Call Vote 77 shows that the occupant of Georgia’s 2nd District seat was “Not Present.” In the National Right to Life scorecard of 36 votes going back to 2013, the occupant of Georgia’s 2nd District had a score of 0%. That is not reflective of the values across the board in the 2nd District.

Where I stand on the issues is based on the foundational document that set forth the start of our great nation. The Declaration of Independence contains multiple references to God.

It recognizes that mankind owes its existence to our Creator. It affirms that our Creator endowed us with certain unalienable rights, among them being life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The signers of the Declaration appeal to the Supreme Ruler of the World to weigh their intentions. Finally it closes with what I believe to be the ten most important words in all of our founding documents, “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.”

Our motto, “In God We Trust” is more than just words on a coin. Those words define America. They define the values that make us an exceptional nation and why the “great experiment” of our founding fathers still stands today.

America is rebounding today because of individual freedom and liberty. President Trump led with a vision to get the heavy hand of government intrusion and heavy taxes off the American people.

Democrats in Congress have launched an all out assault on individual liberty and freedom. I am running to put our vote in Congress back in the hands of its rightful owners – the people of Southwest Georgia. I ask for your support. It is time for a change. Send DC to DC. May God bless you. Thank you again!
