On Tuesday, the 2nd day of early voting, the Bibb County Board of elections identified a problem with some ballots in Hazzard 4 Precinct. They held an emergency meeting and made some decisions.

The decisions were about a race in which I am a candidate. I have yet to be contacted with an explanation of what happened, how it happened, when it happened, and why it happened.

I do not know if any of the other candidates were notified. My request to Bibb County is to advise the candidates of a proposed plan of correction before executing a plan.

This common sense approach could avoid unnecessary legal costs down the road. Attempting to fix the problem without thinking through the ramifications, that could make the problem worse.

I have great appreciation for the election officials and know that we all want the same thing – integrity in the vote. The individual who cast a vote must know that his or her vote is valuable and equal to any other vote. Every vote counts.
