In 1620 a group of 104 members of a congregation booked passage on the Mayflower to go to the new world. The pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving a year later.
What happened to the group during the first year may be surprising.

A vivid memory sticks in my head from my childhood days. I was learning to tie my shoes. I watched my mother tie them with ease for me. Now she was teaching me to do it myself.
I fumbled with the laces and after many frustrating attempts, I was no closer. I cried out, “I cain’t do this!” (intentionally spelled the way my accent sounds.) My mother responded with three simple words that somehow stuck in my mind, “Cain’t never could.”
Senator Johnny Isakson announced his intention to run for another term in the US Senate in 2016. What he does in the next three weeks will set the stage. He has an opportunity right now. I pray that he will seize the moment. Below is an open letter to Senator Isakson.

Dear Senator Isakson,
Last night, President Obama announced his planned executive order to provide amnesty to five million illegal aliens. The supposed legal authority for his planned action is referred to as prosecutorial discretion.
Prosecutorial discretion is simply not enforcing certain laws. For example, driving 75 in a 70 mile per hour zone and topping the hill to see a state trooper running radar.
Yesterday President Obama, in a speech delivered in China, announced that the “United States has set a new goal of reducing our net greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 28 percent below 2005 levels by the year 2025.”
Thank you to all the veterans of the armed services. Also thank you to the many restaurants who give a free meal to veterans today. These free meals are not government sponsored, taxpayer funded programs.
The cost of these meals come off the bottom line of these restaurants. Show them your appreciation for saying thank you to veterans by dining with them throughout the year.
Tomorrow newly elected members of the US Senate and US House of Representatives go to Washington, DC for orientation. I have already started collecting bottled water for David Perdue.
Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet with his, “make no mistake about it.” The people of America picked it up and ran it through his policies and Harry Reid as chief obstructionists.
Last night Georgians and the rest of America rallied behind the Republican candidates to deliver a clear and unmistakable message. The key to understanding this rally is that word, “candidates.”
Georgians and Americans did not deliver such a blow to Democrats because they were so enamored with the Republican party.
Republican candidates flew around as a united team today. I was with a large crowd in Albany to cheer the candidates on. Senator Johnny Isakson introduced David Perdue.
David gave a brief campaign speech and drew big applause when he noted that when Republicans take majority control of the Senate, the new Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee will be Senator Johnny Isakson.
Governor Deal announced that for the 2nd year in a row, Georgia has been designated as the most business friendly state in the nation.
The following e-mail message was sent to Todd Rehm of the Georgia Pundit on Sunday afternoon, December 2014 with predictions and analysis.
Todd,
It is Sunday afternoon and I thought that I would give you my best guess on what will happen on Tuesday. I’m not sending my thoughts to anyone else. You are holding this in escrow. Run it if you want after Tuesday.
