A painting hangs in the halls of Congress, the People’s House, that depicts police officers as pigs pointing their pistols at African-Americans. The painting is part of a student art competition and put on display by Missouri Democrat Lacy Clay.
After receiving complaints from law enforcement agencies, California Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter took action. He removed the painting from the wall and returned it to Clay’s office.

I watched C-SPAN coverage of the certification of electoral votes today. Our Republic continues to function in the transition of power. Vice-President Joe Biden as President of the Senate presided over the recording of votes from each state. The House selected two members and the Senate selected two members as tellers.
Beginning with the first state, Alabama, Democrats in the House of Representatives rose to object to the Electoral votes. Vice-President Biden repeatedly called the objections out of order and read from the Section 15 and 17 of the US Code indicating that objections must be in writing and signed by a member of the House and a member of the Senate. Objectors did not have a signature from a Senator.
by Last week, Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina referred to Freshman Georgia Senator David Perdue as a “Two year old politician.” The context of that reference was a series of speeches on the Senate floor about the budget process.
Senator Perdue has spent months quietly working with his senate colleagues to address the budget process.Then, on September 28, he scheduled the time for the Freshman Senators to join him.
In the fashion of a learned professor, he lectured the seasoned Senators about the budget. He used plain, common sense language. Just a few quotes below:
by On September 17, 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia signed the United States Constitution to send it to the states for ratification. The major issue in the discussion of the new Constitution was representation. States with larger population wanted representation based on population. States with smaller populations feared being overpowered by a few states and called for equal representation for each state.
The Connecticut Compromise gave us the legislative organization that we have today. The House of Representatives is based on population. The Senate provides two votes for each state regardless of size. This presents the unusual situation for seven states, Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming having more Senators than members in the House of Representatives.
by A Veterans group blog site recently filed a Freedom of Information request regarding Congressman Sanford Bishop’s claim to be an Army veteran. They posted the response on their blog and the Facebook page of the 2nd District Republican Party.
Congressman Bishop’s official biography reads, “He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971; completed basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, entered Advanced Reserve Officers Training, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1971.”

If current laws remained generally unchanged, the United States would face steadily increasing federal budget deficits and debt over the next 30 years—reaching the highest level of debt relative to GDP ever experienced in this country.
Even more troubling is to read the one sentence summary from prior years.

It was addressed to “Dear Colleague.” The first page of the document was written in seven different languages offering free language services if the reader had difficulty understanding English.

by I received news yesterday that Bobby Scott, Republican candidate for Congress, died unexepectedly Saturday afternoon. Muscogee County Coroner, Buddy Bryan said that Scott died in his sleep. Scott suffered with diabetic ketoacidosis. He also had high blood sugar and high blood pressure. Scott was 40-years-old.
I met Bobby in person for the first time last Tuesday at the Southwest Georgia Republican Party Headquarters grand opening. After the event, we were talking about the campaign when he looked at his watch and said that he had to leave to get his son.
We never expect this kind of news. According to the news reports, he was found by his son who could not wake him on Saturday afternoon. Our prayers are with Bobby’s family, loved ones, friends, and his campaign team.

The Presidential race is kicking into high gear. Americans are itching for a change, not just in the White House.
In the distant horizon a wave is building that will eventually be a tsunami of revolt at the ballot box in November. That wave can be summed up in three words, “You Deserve Better.”
Here in the Second District, Sanford Bishop has been in Congress for two decades. His title is Representative. One must ask, “Whom does he really represent?”
Take for example, Obamacare.
by In the first week of January, President Obama again by-passed our elected legislators when he unilaterally issued orders threatening our 2nd amendment rights to own and bear firearms. Our two US Senators responded immediately with statements vowing to fight the order. Congressmen in all but one district across South Georgia also responded with strong statements against the unconstitutional order.
A chirping cricket is louder than the protests from our congressman in the 2nd District. It has been a month and there is silence from the 2nd Congressional District.
