Carly Fiorina Demonstrates How to Take Charge of the Message

Listen to any of the mainstream media coverage of the call to defund Planned Parenthood and you will hear them refer to the Republicans shutting down the government. I expect that spin from them.

What is infuriating is that so many Republicans inside the DC beltway swallow that message hook, line, and sinker. They point back to effort to defund Obamacare and say that it failed. That line of thinking is just an excuse for inaction. Planned Parenthood is not Obamacare.

Carly Fiorina got a lot of attention at last Wednesday’s debate with her resolute and passionate call to defund Planned Parenthood. Then on Friday at the Heritage Action Take Back America Presidential Candidate Forum, it took 25 seconds for her to show how we should put the ball squarely in the President’s court.

On Friday, the US House of Representatives passed HR 3134 to place a moratorium for one year on funding Planned Parenthood.

(Note to Georgia 2nd District – Sanford Bishop Voted “NO.” )

Section 3a reads as follows:

The Source of All Government Funding

I saw a posting on Facebook that told of a person on welfare and listed all the benefits that this person received. It added up to a significantly higher dollar amount than the person would make taking a job paying minimum wage.

The initial reaction is anger and resentment toward the individual who is drawing these various payments. While I understand the anger, I think that it is misdirected.

Let’s Set the Record Straight on David Perdue and the Iran Agreement

Yesterday I began receiving e-mail messages about Senator David Perdue being one of 8 Republican Senators to vote with the Democrats on the Iran Terror Amendment. When I asked for the referenced vote, I received link to a web site with story about how horrible the deal with Iran is.

The article included a link to commentary from Mark Levin’s radio show. The commentary on the show was from last April. It dealt with an amendment that Senator Rubio introduced to a bill that required congressional review of any agreement with Iran.

David Perdue Speaks to Americans for Prosperity

Senator David Perdue might tell some that public speaking is not one of his strong points. Over 4,000 people at the Americans for Prosperity Defending the American Dream Summit in Columbus, Ohio would have to disagree. Senator Perdue was one of the keynote speakers at the Summit along with many of the Republican Presidential candidates.

Senator Perdue was introduced as the “Outsider.” He told the story of meeting an elderly woman on the campaign trail who recognized him. She asked if he had ever held office in Washington. He told her, “No mam.” She quickly responded, “Well, you’ve got my vote.”

A Plain and Clear Warning from Isaiah to Those Who Enact Evil Statutes

The United States Senate took a vote last night on whether or not to take up a bill that would stop the flow of tax dollars to Planned Parenthood. Supporters of the measure needed 60 votes in order to move forward. They only got 53. Every single Democrat except one followed the leadership of Harry Reid to keep the money flowing to Planned Parenthood.

The Real Vote to Repeal Obamacare is Today – You Can Make a Difference

The Real vote for Obamacare comes up tonight in a procedural move by Senator Mike Lee of Utah. You may have seen on the news that the Senate did not get the 60 votes needed to repeal Obamacare. Here is what happened and what you need to understand.

Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell offered an amendment to the Transportation bill to repeal Obamacare. Because of Senate rules, that particular amendment required 60 votes to move forward. Frankly, that vote was little more than a show vote.

Cruz vs McConnell – Round Two

Last week, Texas Senator Ted Cruz called fellow Senator Mitch McConnell a liar. Cruz emphatically claimed that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had assured him multiple times that there “is no deal” on allowing the Export-Import bank funding amendment to be attached to the transportation bill.

Cruz said that McConnell assured him that the only thing he had ever said was that any individual Senator could offer an amendment. McConnell himself, using the privileged position of majority leader, introduced the amendment.

Hurricane David Hits the State Department

I get several press releases each day from various sources. Over the past two days I received two releases in particular that caught my attention more than others.

Georgia Senator David Perdue has been in the Senate for six months. He quickly rose to the position of Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on State Department and USAID Management, Internal Operations, and Bilateral International Development.

On Monday he introduced a bi-partisan bill, “Improving Department of State Oversight Act” which gives strength to the Office of Inspector General and Congressional oversight for the department. “Conducting Congressional oversight is critical to making Washington more accountable, and a good place to start is at the scandal-ridden State Department,” said Senator Perdue.
