The Miracle of Motherhood

Today is Mother’s Day. Millions of dozens of flowers, cards, and phone calls are enroute or have already been delivered.

The sheer volume tells us that this is more than just a successful marketing campaign by florists, candy makers, and greeting card companies. Childbearing is a role that is unique to a woman. There is a miraculous bond between mother and child.

No one exists apart from that relationship of mother to child.  At a point in time, you were a microscopic being inside your mother’s body.

You were not just a clump of cells. Unlike anything else, you were, and are today, a miracle. You were, and are today, a unique, special, valuable, human being, wonderfully made in God’s image.

A woman carrying a child, knows that she is involved in something wondrous. She has an inexplicable sense to protect that precious little being for whom she now has responsibility.

There are some who outwardly deny the reality of a separate and unique human life inside the body of an expecting mother. The outward denial does not change the truth of the instinctive reality.

The truth of a human baby living and growing inside the body of a mother is not a tenet of faith and religion. That truth is the tangible foundation of reality and our existence.

Mothers, God used you in His miraculous design. Today is a day for recognition, appreciation, and honor. Happy Mother’s Day.
