Why Is Sarah Palin Getting Trashed?

Why is it that when someone decides to endorse one candidate, the supporters of other candidates feel the need to ridicule the endorser? Sarah Palin endorsed Donald Trump and suddenly our own side rips her to shreds. Her motives are questioned, she is painted as a total failure at everything she has ever done, and even her family members are maligned.

There is one; however, who did not take that approach

The Baby I am Holding is Not Just a Zygote

2016-01-20 11.29.43Last Sunday was Sanctity of Life Sunday. Churches across the nation focused messages and lessons on the sanctity of life. I had the privilege of worshipping with Grace Evangelical Church in Fayetteville, Georgia. They interviewed a young mother in their worship service that made the subject deeply personal to me.

It was a typical day in December 2014. I was scrolling through my Facebook glancing at posts ranging from political discourse to family photos. One caught my attention. She was at the end of her rope, fed up with life, tired of the corruption and hypocrisy that she experienced from others. Something about her post told me that it was not just another rant by someone angry with the politics of the day.

Predictions for Iowa

The Iowa caucuses are just days away now. I’ll go out on a limb and make some predictions. These are not endorsements, just observations.

I predict a record turnout. 65% of the vote will go to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz combined. Ben Carson comes in third if his supporters don’t throw in the towel and not show up.

Let me address the Ben Carson supporters with a message that applies to everyone.

Carly Fiorina Demonstrates How to Take Charge of the Message

Listen to any of the mainstream media coverage of the call to defund Planned Parenthood and you will hear them refer to the Republicans shutting down the government. I expect that spin from them.

What is infuriating is that so many Republicans inside the DC beltway swallow that message hook, line, and sinker. They point back to effort to defund Obamacare and say that it failed. That line of thinking is just an excuse for inaction. Planned Parenthood is not Obamacare.

Carly Fiorina got a lot of attention at last Wednesday’s debate with her resolute and passionate call to defund Planned Parenthood. Then on Friday at the Heritage Action Take Back America Presidential Candidate Forum, it took 25 seconds for her to show how we should put the ball squarely in the President’s court.

On Friday, the US House of Representatives passed HR 3134 to place a moratorium for one year on funding Planned Parenthood.

(Note to Georgia 2nd District – Sanford Bishop Voted “NO.” )

Section 3a reads as follows:

The Source of All Government Funding

I saw a posting on Facebook that told of a person on welfare and listed all the benefits that this person received. It added up to a significantly higher dollar amount than the person would make taking a job paying minimum wage.

The initial reaction is anger and resentment toward the individual who is drawing these various payments. While I understand the anger, I think that it is misdirected.

Let’s Set the Record Straight on David Perdue and the Iran Agreement

Yesterday I began receiving e-mail messages about Senator David Perdue being one of 8 Republican Senators to vote with the Democrats on the Iran Terror Amendment. When I asked for the referenced vote, I received link to a web site with story about how horrible the deal with Iran is.

The article included a link to commentary from Mark Levin’s radio show. The commentary on the show was from last April. It dealt with an amendment that Senator Rubio introduced to a bill that required congressional review of any agreement with Iran.

Pretentious Predictions of Pompous Pundits

I have been watching the pundits, primarily on Fox News, and continue to be amazed at their predictions that basically write off the top three candidates, Trump, Carson, and Cruz. They act as if they are the HR Department who will hand the voters their list of acceptable candidates.

At worst it is arrogance. At best it is elitism. I call it simply pompous punditry.

David Perdue Speaks to Americans for Prosperity

Senator David Perdue might tell some that public speaking is not one of his strong points. Over 4,000 people at the Americans for Prosperity Defending the American Dream Summit in Columbus, Ohio would have to disagree. Senator Perdue was one of the keynote speakers at the Summit along with many of the Republican Presidential candidates.

Senator Perdue was introduced as the “Outsider.” He told the story of meeting an elderly woman on the campaign trail who recognized him. She asked if he had ever held office in Washington. He told her, “No mam.” She quickly responded, “Well, you’ve got my vote.”

Immigration Plan of Donald Trump and Grassroots – No Political Correctness

In my last Note from Don Cole, I made this observation: “Even though Trump is high in the polls there is one thing that I have not seen. I see no ground game.” That box is now checked in Iowa.

I saw more than one report during the week about the activities at the Iowa State Fair that specifically addressed Trump’s ground game in Iowa. Trump hired Chuck Laudner to manage his Iowa effort. Laudner was the head of Rick Santorum’s team that won the Iowa Caucuses in 2012.

A Washington Post article quoted an organizer for Rick Perry who made this observation, “You cannot swing a dead cat in Iowa and not hit a Trump person . . . . . The Trump people are everywhere with literature and T-shirts and signing people up.”
